Easy Au Gratin Potatoes and Ham

I’m excited to share this tacky dish of deliciousness, Easy Au Gratin Potatoes and Ham. This recipe isn't just a household favorite, but it’s also fancy sufficient to serve guests. When my youngsters have been young, this was one in all their favourite dinners, and I made it often. Ingredients

3 Tbsp butter
1/4 yellow onion finely diced
3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
1/4 tsp pepper
1 pound potatoes washed and thinly sliced (about 3 medium baking potatoes)
1 1/2 cups cooked cubed ham
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees
    Add butter and minced onions to a big skillet over medium-low heat. Cook about 10 minutes till onions are delicate and translucent.
    Meanwhile, slice the potatoes and dice the cooked ham.
    Sprinkle flour calmly over the onions and whisk. Continue cooking this combination about 2-3 minutes till the flour is pale brown.
    Slowly upload milk whisking usually to evade lumps. Continue whisking till the combination thickens which must be in about 3-4 minutes.
    Add pepper and a pinch of salt if desired, blend nicely and take away from the heat.
    Spray baking dish with non-stick cooking spray or grease with butter.
    Add half of the potatoes, best with half of the ham and sprinkle with 1/2 cup of equally the Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses. Pour half of the sauce over the top. Add the relaxation of your potato slices, the relaxation of the ham, and conceal with the final sauce. Top with the final cheeses.
